Thanks to Joel Knull on r.a.m.d. for this review!

I'm only gonna comment about the top 5 corps in competition, cause its really
late and stuff. But I gotta give credit to the Golden Lancers, these guys put
out a beautiful sound and marched really well for what they have, I gotta tell
you if you ever get the chance to see them do it. This corps will raise
eyebrows.

5. Glassmen - Umm, Ok if this show even MAKES DCI Finals. Im taking over DCI
Headquarters and making all the Head Caption Judges eat pork grinds until
they puke. This show really didnt do it for me, and also the people around me.
I gotta admit tho the first 3-4 minutes of the show I liked, I really thought
things had changed, nice hornline, good marching technique. then boom,
everything went down hill. I guess all the marching they really do is in the
first 3-4 minutes of the show, the rest of the marching they do is just free
forming to make forms..sorry..no difficulty in that. Drum Solo? Better rewrite
it, Americanos had more difficulty in there drum solo. I mean, people around
me were complaining that the drums werent playing, but when they started to
play ..well..maybe they shouldnt be playing, the ending should have some
better drum parts written for them, quarter notes really dont get you good
drum scores. I did like the horns tho, they put out a good sound and can have
some nice blend at times, I also love the tunes there playing also. They just
gotta take a step up from that now. Also another question, What does Red balls
have to do with Stars & Stripes?!

4. Colts - Finally, Finally they beat the glassmen. And guess what...They
really didnt have a good nite, I thought that they were going to lose again
but I guess the judges felt otherwise. Horns are strongpoint, they just need
to stay strong towards the end of the show, they start to fade out and
individuals playing exists everywhere. Drumline was all over the place they
need some work also. I do love the show concept and when this show gets
cleaned (needs lots of cleaning) its another top 12 year for these guys.
Visual is pretty exciting and its got its strong points, but sometimes it
loses focus. Good show tho from them, and I hope they stay strong all year.

3. Cadets of BC - One Word: GE, this show has got it all. Beautiful, difficult
horn parts, Some heavy drill and a AWESOME Percussion line. This show is
EXTREMELY dirty and thats why there a little far behind, but come late july &
august say hello to this years dci world champions. The horns have some really
great licks and there doing about 45-50% of these licks while there marching
VERY fast. The props really didnt have much use yet, but we saw what was to
become of the props when they were leaving the field (we saw the backs of some
of the props that were done, they marched with the props facing the other way.
so they all were purple. when the props get done tho its gonna fit in just
beautiful with what there doing). These props are HUGE by the way, and it must
be a pain in the #@(! to move them. Visually they need lots of work, and Im
sure thats what put them so far behind tonite. Horns were all over the place,
People falling down and bumping into each other. But hey its early. when this
show gets cleaned look out.

2. Phantom Regiment - BEST HORNLINE IVE EVER HEARD FROM THESE GUYS! they
clearly had tonites best hornline, the first 2-3 minutes of this show are well
thought and clearly set the tone of whats to come. Percussion needs mucho
cleaning as they were dragging thru much of the show. Visually its so/so, The
black uni's hide the dirtyness they have in the early season, the drill doesnt
really look that difficult, but there are some parts where they got some nice
ideas. The guard looked very clean for early in the season also, I really hate
to admit this, but I think in mid-July they will pass Cavaliers, after they
clean up some mess. I thought they'd be a little closer than 2 points down
(maybe .9 or 1.1) to the Cavaliers.

1. Cavaliers - Tonites winners. Does anyone remember '94? Cavaliers starting
off really clean in the early season, then peaking to early, then taking 4th
place at the DCI Championships? I hope it doesnt happen again, but from what I
saw tonite it might just become true. Percussion line is HOT, that and there
visual show are keeping them so far above right now. Hornline is dirty, but
they got some great ideas. I love it when they go backfield and play towards
the back stands, they really put out a nice sound when they do that. The music
sounds nice and there are some pretty difficult parts in it. This show really
didnt hit me like '95's show tho, I guess this is a show where im gonna have
to let it grow on me. There are some pretty cool drill moves in the drum solo
that you should look out for. I do like the show however, but there gonna have
to give it a little something extra if there gonna win the crown this year.
